Mission Giving

Committed to generosity, 11% of all of the church’s income goes to financially supporting mission. Much of that goes directly to our mission partners. How those mission partners are identified and how funds are allocated is governed by the Mission Giving Guidelines adopted by Session and the Generosity Ministry.

This Year’s Recipients

As we work to support God’s Mission in our wider community, the Generosity Ministry will reach out to the congregation bi-annually to get congregational input about which organizations to fund through our Mission Giving. When evaluating these opportunities, the Generosity Ministry seeks to follow the Mission Giving Guidelines. This year’s recipients are listed below. • Friends for Health in Haiti

The mission of Friends for Health in Haiti is to improve the health of the people of Haiti in a caring, compassionate manner, as a reflection of our Christian faith. Their vision is a far-reaching one – to develop a medical facility that will provide primary health care to people of all ages, community education from the clinic and in surrounding communities, and maternity services, including emergency obstetric care.

  • Presbyterian Disaster Assistance

This organization provides long-term recovery assistance to communities when natural disasters occur. It also has been guiding congregations in witnessing to the healing love of Christ through its help to those in need during the Covid crisis. It has also provided help for the Afghan refugees.

  • Chubby's Project

This project is devoted to developing connections within the Hopewell community and is dedicated to food justice. Their aim is to provide a connection between those receiving food, the food service workers and those who volunteer and donate their time and other resources. Chubby’s Restaurant contributes to Chubby’s Project by providing meals and by buying food and packaging at cost. They also provide infrastructure and labor. The Project reimburses the restaurant using grants and private donations.

  • Hopewell Youth Collective

The mission of this group is to develop a “… youth-led, youth organized platform for development, community engagement, mutual support and spiritual growth”. Led by director Deborah Jodrey and sponsored by the Hopewell Council of Churches, this group will provide young people with “… the opportunity to strengthen existing friendships and forge new relationships…”. The Collective serves youth grades 6-12 who live in Hopewell Borough and other young people who are served by the congregations in the Hopewell Council of Churches.
